14 cases of meniscus injury was studied with literature review, which were experienced in our Orthopedic Department, Catholic Medical College, since 1963

Abstract
On the contrary to the American authors, we have had many lateral injuries by the ratio of 9 by 5, and this fact was also justified by the Japanese authors, including Sakurai, Amago.
The reason why lateral meniscal injury was encountered more frequently in Korean and Japanese than in Europeans, was considered here: The discoid cartilage is more valnerable to injuryand more frequently found in Korean and Japanese than in Europeans. Another factor is seemed to be a squatting position in the usual daily life, then the lateral collateral ligament may be relaxed and the lateral meniscus is predisposed to injury-Also the sports Yudo is considereda predisposing factor to lateral meniscal injury.
